The US Demanded Lukashenko Not To Expel Political Prisoners From The Country

The dictator faces the Hague Tribunal for the deportation of Belarusians.

Alexander Lukashenko on March 13 commented on the upcoming talks with the US special envoy for Belarus John Cole. According to the usurper, there are about ten items on the agenda, from the lifting of sanctions to the reopening of embassies and the release of political prisoners. He emphasized that the prisoners are allegedly not being kicked out of the country, while the Americans are asking not to put them in jail again.

Talking about negotiations and the release of political prisoners, Lukashenko said that the US negotiators are asking "God forbid not to put them in jail again."

- They want to stay - please. But within the existing legal framework," BelTA quoted the dictator.

As reported by Charter97.org, the prosecutor's office of the International Criminal Court announced the beginning of an official investigation against the Belarusian authorities because of the campaign of force against the civilian population of the country, launched after the 2020 elections. The Belarusian authorities are suspected of committing crimes against humanity - namely politically motivated deportations carried out as part of state policy.
