Air Serbia has not flown through our country since May 2021.
Serbian airline Air Serbia has again started using the airspace of Belarus on flights between Belgrade and Moscow. According to Flightradar24, the new route began to be used on March 3, 2026, noted telegram channel "From the Screw | Aviation of Belarus".
The planes on the Belgrade-Moscow-Belgrade line now regularly fly through the Minsk Flight Information Region (FIR Minsk (UMMV), although previously the company flew around Belarus for almost five years.
This route is considered the shortest and most convenient for the air carrier. Compared to flying through Poland and the Baltic States, it allows to shorten the route by about 100-150 kilometers. This saves about 10 minutes of flight time and reduces fuel costs. In addition, when flying through Belarus, the aircraft passes through fewer flight information zones, which also reduces navigation fees.
Air Serbia previously refused to fly through Belarus in May 2021 after the incident with a Ryanair flight with Roman Protasevich on board, which was forced to land in Minsk. After that, many European airlines started avoiding Belarusian airspace. Although Air Serbia is not part of the European Union and was not obliged to comply with these recommendations, it also changed its routes.
Now Air Serbia has actually become the only European airline (unless you count Russian and Turkish airlines) that regularly uses Belarusian airspace. In addition, it remains one of the few European companies that continue to operate flights to Russia.
