A brilliant strike by the VSU.
Russia's Silicon El microelectronics manufacturing plant in Bryansk after a massive Storm Shadow cruise missile attack on March 10 can be considered destroyed, not just damaged. Even partial restoration of technological processes will take years, Defense Express reported on Wednesday, March 11.
According to OSINT analysis, five cruise missiles hit the plant's main production room measuring approximately 140 by 140 meters. The 450 kg BROACH-type Storm Shadow warhead first penetrates the first obstacle with a shaped charge, and then the main munition explodes already in the room.
Such an attack likely disrupted the production process at the Silicon El plant, which had hypersensitive equipment. Defense Express explains that the most high-tech production is carried out with ultra-strict standards even for air purity and dust content. The process takes place in special boxes with a preset microclimate and a dust capacity requirement of 1 fraction per 1 liter of air.
The plant operated expensive and rare equipment. In particular, in 2010 the plant installed a lithographic tool MLA 150 Maskless Aligner from German Heidelberg Instruments with an estimated cost of more than 300 thousand dollars.
A significant part of the processes for the production of obsolete element base of the 80s was carried out on the corresponding Soviet equipment. And although it is much less sensitive in terms of dust content, the probability of its restoration and repair is minimal due to obsolescence and closure of manufacturing plants, Defense Express writes.
