Washington said it was "losing patience."
The US administration is seeking from the authorities of the Republic of South Africa to withdraw the country from BRICS and return to the policy of non-alignment. This is reported by the local newspaper TimesLIVE.
The corresponding position was voiced by the US ambassador to South Africa Leo Brent Bozell. He noted that Washington had sent Pretoria a number of proposals about a year ago. These included a review of the Expropriation Act and the black empowerment program, condemnation of the "Kill the Boer" slogan and protection for white farmers. The US is also pushing for South Africa to withdraw from BRICS and drop its lawsuit against Israel at the UN International Court of Justice.
"US President Donald Trump said: "I want South Africa to be a non-aligned country again." We are not asking for that much: non-alignment,'" the diplomat said, adding that Washington was "losing patience."
