U.S. Sees Signs Of Iran Mining The Strait Of Hormuz

Iran has allegedly begun mines in the Strait of Hormuz, CBS News Senior White House Correspondent Jennifer Jacobs reports on social media X.

"U.S. intelligence has begun to detect signs that Iran is taking steps to plant mines in the shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz shipping channel. Iran is using small vessels, each of which can carry 2 to 3 mines. While Iran's stockpile of mines is not publicly known, estimates over the years have ranged from about 2,000 to 6,000 sea mines," she reports from fellow CBS News journalist Jim LaPorte, who specializes in national security issues.
