Lithuania Is Preparing A Response To Lukashenko

One option is to push through the US.

The Lithuanian authorities are considering possible retaliatory measures against Minsk, as the Belarusian authorities still do not allow the exit of Lithuanian vehicles from the country. This was stated by chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Seimas of Lithuania Remigijus Motuzas on the air of LRT on March 10.

BNS agency reported earlier that carriers are concerned about the fate of Lithuanian trucks, located in special parking lots in Belarus. According to them, March 10 expires a four-month period, after which the equipment can be confiscated.

The head of the International Transport Logistics Alliance (TTLA) Povilas Drižas noted that there is conflicting information about possible confiscations. "Some channels say they have already started, others say they have not yet. You can expect anything from these countries. We have no official confirmation that it may start today," he said.

Motuzas emphasized that the Belarusian side has not yet given official explanations about the situation with the trucks. According to him, international organizations have already been informed about what is happening, while Lithuania expects to put pressure on Minsk through allies, primarily through the U.S.

"One of the scenarios is retaliatory measures against Belarus and pressure through our partners, especially now. The U.S. is negotiating with Belarus to release prisoners, some sanctions have been partially lifted, and Minsk is still interested in lifting them. We are not giving up and are considering other options, which I would not like to disclose publicly," said the MP.
