Ukraine Has Proposed Immediate Action Against The Shaheds To The Gulf Countries

Experience from the war with Russian Federation could help other countries fight Iranian drones.

Ukraine has provided Gulf countries with expertise to counter Iranian drones. Kiev is also negotiating access to interceptor missiles for air defense.

Ukraine's ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanyshyna told Suspilne.

According to Stefanyshyna, it was important for Ukraine to show its partners that it can "offer not a political position, concern or sympathy, but immediate action and immediate effect."

The ambassador said that President Vladimir Zelensky had held telephone conversations with leaders of Persian Gulf countries that were affected by the Iranian strikes.

After that, Ukraine provided them with the necessary expertise at their request. Arrangements for such support have also been agreed with the US government.

The diplomat noted that Iranian drones of the Shahed type have become one of the key instruments of aggression since December 2022.

She said these drones were developed and transferred to Russia specifically for strikes on Ukrainian cities.

"These drones were developed and transferred to Russia intentionally for strikes on cities to kill civilians, not for use on the front line," she explained.

Stefanyshina said that Iran also used similar technology during the recent Israeli-American operation in Iran.

She also added that in parallel with providing assistance to partners, Ukraine is negotiating access to interceptor missiles for air defense systems.

The ambassador emphasized that these issues are not directly related, but as the geography of the conflict expands, the need for such missiles will only grow. Ukraine is coordinating with European allies to avoid disruptions in their supply.

In addition, Stefanyshyna urged not to ignore the role of Russia and China in supporting Iran.
