What is happening in Belgorod region after the blackout.
On February 3, Belgorod plunged into darkness. Missiles hit two electric substations "Frunzenskaya" and "Belgorod" - and immediately the regional center and several adjacent areas were left without light. Heating and water also disappeared. Russians are buying up gasoline, bread and stew, as well as looking for a replacement for the usual candles.

Miners and people stuck in elevators
"I live in the north of the Russian Federation, I can't call my elderly parents in Belgorod. There is no connection, how are they there without light and heat when it is -30 degrees of frost outside. They are simple people, nothing depends on them, why are they like this?" one of the users is indignant in Threads.
In fact, in Belgorod only at night the frost reached -20 degrees Celsius, just like in Ukraine, which has been shelled by Russia for four years, destroying the heat and energy infrastructure. However, the residents of Belgorod did not seem to realize that the same fate could befall them.
In many areas of Belgorod and adjacent settlements of Gaivoronsky, Shebekinsky, Yakovlevsky, Rakitnyansky, Krasnoyaruzsky, Ivnyansky districts, water was lost, heat pumps were turned off, there were problems with the Internet. And a miner's shift was blocked underground, besides almost 80 people were stuck in elevators of multi-storey buildings.
The inhabitants of the region lined up at gas stations: they bought fuel to charge generators, and also filled full tanks of cars, fearing shortages.
The stores also swept bread off the shelves, stocked up on matches and salt, bought water and stew. And after them - buckwheat, rice and pasta.
"And what should we do now? How can we leave our children at home if the apartment is cold and there is no water? And the school is also cold and there is no light or water. What should we do, where should we run?" - Belgorod resident Tatiana describes her suffering.
The topic of the blackout is hidden
In Belgorod, some large shopping and entertainment centers - City Mall, MegaGreenn - have stopped working. On the sites of establishments reported that they closed for technical reasons, only supermarkets are working. Technical reasons were explained by the restrictions of "Rosseti".
A Oktyabrsky district court canceled the sessions because of the shortage of electricity. Only after many hours in some districts organized water supply.
The governor of Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov announced that no one will deploy mobile heating points, which were prepared in case of blackout. Residents believe that the official, as always, is hiding the scale of the disaster, possibly on orders from Moscow.
Russians are buying up bread and gasoline and swapping candles for lanterns: what is happening in Belgorod Region after the blackout, which the authorities are carefully hiding
The same way he behaved when the first detachments of the RDK and the Freedom Legion entered the region in 2023. Fighters of the Russian volunteer units were already on the territory of the region, and Gladkov was shooting a video from behind the bushes, saying that everything was calm and that it was all a "provocation."
In the meantime, a heating center for 150 people was opened in City Mall, where people can recharge their gadgets, use the Internet, drink tea and coffee.
But the subject of the blackout in Belgorod Region is carefully hushed up on the central TV channels. They pretend that nothing is happening.
The residents of Belgorod region are not yet used to living without light, so they were not prepared for the blackout. Most of them have only candles as backup lighting. They are just literally placed in local stores.
Belgorodians in social networks share the best ways to survive without light. Many have now discovered emergency lamps and lanterns that run on batteries, battery-powered garlands and even home power stations.
Solar panels that can be displayed on balconies have also come into use.
