Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Mikhail Yevdokimov and handed him a note of protest, the Foreign Ministry's press service reported.
The reason was the statement of the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin regarding the sentencing of Armenian citizens in the country.
Baku called on Moscow to take appropriate measures to stop "destructive activities" and attempts to undermine peace and stability in the region, as well as relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.
Zatulin, as RBC writes, the day before published a statement by the international Russian-Armenian "Lazarev Club" on Baku's verdict against the former so-called leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh. It calls the court's decision "a shameful triumph of arbitrariness and betrayal". The MP is the coordinator of the club's council.
