The reason was the politician's remarks about Trump.
"We will no longer maintain contact and communicate with Sejm Speaker Wlodzimierz Czarzasty," said US Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose. He cited "outrageous and unfounded insults against President Trump" as the reason, tvn24.pl.
In a post on Platform X, Tom Rose said that as of Thursday, the U.S. side will no longer maintain contact and commiserate with Wlodzimierz Czarzasty. He wrote that "outrageous and unfounded insults against President Trump have made him a serious obstacle to our excellent relationship with Prime Minister Tusk and his government."
"We will not allow anyone to harm Polish-American relations or disrespect Donald Trump, who has done so much for Poland and Poles," the ambassador said.
Czaszasty commented on the decision in a conversation with Onet.
- Since Mr. Ambassador's statement was made in connection with my position on the issue of not supporting President Trump's candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize, I reiterate my position in this matter," he said.
Chazhasty on Trump: 'Destabilizes the situation'
The Polish Sejm speaker was critical of Trump at Monday's press conference when he said he would not support a petition to award the U.S. president the Nobel Peace Prize because he "does not deserve it."
Then he assessed that "order based on international law is unfortunately gradually becoming a thing of the past" and international politics is beginning to be dominated by force.
- The creation of new platforms such as the Peace Council by the United States is illusory in my opinion. We need to strengthen the European Union, the UN, WHO and ourselves," he said.
- President Trump, in my opinion, destabilizes the situation in these organizations by presenting a policy of force and pursuing a transactional policy with the use of force," Chazhasty added.
He also mentioned, among other things, Trump's "different interpretation of history" on the issue of Polish soldiers' participation in missions and his "instrumental attitude" towards other territories such as Greenland.
The initiative to award Trump the Nobel Peace Prize was launched by U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Israeli Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. On Friday, the Polish Sejm received correspondence requesting support for their initiative from the Speaker of the Sejm.
