Powerful Explosion: Cars With Gasoline Derailed In Russia's Tambov Region

A huge column of thick black smoke could be seen rising toward the sky.

Freight cars with gasoline derailed in the Tambov region of Russia. The incident was reported on February 4 by the press service of the company "Russian Railways".

The incident occurred at 15:34 Minsk time at the station Kochetovka-2 in the Tambov region. A heavy fire started after the cars with fuel derailed. The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The footage posted on social networks shows a huge column of thick black smoke rising to the sky. Local residents claim that there was an explosion after the accident.

To eliminate the consequences of the accident, Russian Railways has set up an operational headquarters. Firefighters and recovery trains have been sent to the site.

Train traffic through the station has been suspended. Southern trains are expected to be delayed.
