Kuczynski, head of the Vilnius office, said.

Late last year, when it became clear that Lithuania was changing the protection status of Svetlana Tihanovskoy, she wrote a letter to Prime Minister Inga Ruginenė but received no response, says Denis Kuczynski, today's head of Tihanovskoy's office in Vilnius, writing delfi.lt.

"We are grateful for what the criminal police are protecting, making sure that we can work in Vilnius, but we were looking for a compromise until the end, until the end of last year, how we could see if we completely stay in Vilnius. We were looking for this compromise, Tihanovska wrote a letter to the Prime Minister, but she didn't get a response," Kuczynski said.

"We tried to meet, but somehow we did... on the other side, on the side of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the President we had many meetings, we talked a lot, we looked at what and how we could do. From this side we can say that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did everything it could - we have status, diplomatic support (...). On the part of the president's office, too," he stressed.

From February Svetlana Tihanouskaya and part of the office moved to Warsaw, while Dennis Kuchinsky became the head of the mission in Vilnius.

On January 23, Inga Ruginenė was quite critical of Svetlana Tihanouskaya's departure.

"It's her personal business to decide what she will choose," said the head of the government in an interview with Delfi.

"I don't see any additional benefit or loss. Our contacts with the Belarusian opposition are very strong, and not only with Svetlana. The opposition is not only Svetlana, it is much more people. I am glad that the last leaders, who also participated in the presidential election, were released. I think it is very important," Inga Ruginenė emphasized at the time.
