In Ukhta, according to eyewitness footage, the Ukhta oil refinery, Lukoil-Ukhtanefteperererabotka, was under attack. Dense black smoke is rising above the site of the drone hit.
It is also reported that an evacuation was announced in the local shopping center "Yarmarka", the sound of sirens can be heard throughout the city. Earlier, an air alert was declared in the region, and Ukhta airport imposed temporary flight restrictions.
What is known about the refinery in Ukhta
The plant was founded in 1933. Since 1999, the refinery has been a part of Lukoil. The refinery consumes products from local fields in the Timan-Pechora basin. At present, the main part of raw materials is supplied via the Usa-Ukhta trunk oil pipeline. Certain volumes of the resource are received through the 65-kilometer-long Tebuk - Ukhta local oil pipeline.
In 2020, the refinery processed about 2 million tons of oil. Heavy oil from the Yarezskoye field was delivered in railroad tank cars. Refinery products are exported by rail.
