This could signal preparations for strikes on Iran.
The US has deployed missiles in mobile launchers at Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar, which could signal preparations for strikes on Iran.
This is reported by Reuters.
Satellite images from Al-Udeid airbase show an increase in the number of missiles to Patriot systems, which are deployed in mobile launchers in trucks. This allows the military to deploy them much faster when needed. Reuters speculates that this means they are being deployed quickly to strike Iran or moved for defensive purposes in the event of an Iranian attack.
A comparison of satellite images taken in early February with those taken in January shows an accumulation of aircraft and other military equipment at U.S. bases across the region.
Military activity has also been spotted at the Muwaffak Salti air base in Jordan. Images from Feb. 2 show the deployment of 17 F15-E strike aircraft, eight A-10 Thunderbolt jets, four C-130 fighter jets and four unidentified helicopters. Satellite images in late January did not show these aircraft.
The increase in US military activity in the Middle East is linked to negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program. US President Donald Trump has been threatening Tehran with US attacks since early January. Trump first criticized the Iranian regime for suppressing anti-government protests and then focused on the country's nuclear capabilities.
