The Nobel laureate discussed the human rights situation in Belarus.
February 10, chairman of the Human Rights Center "Viasna", winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022 Ales Bialiatski took part in the activities of the Norwegian Parliament (Storting).
Bialiatski met with the chairman of the Parliament Masoud Garakhkhani and a delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, focusing on the human rights situation in Belarus.
It is reported that Garakhkhani emphasized the importance of a personal meeting with the Belarusian human rights activist, who, "despite enormous personal difficulties, has not retreated a single step in his struggle for human rights and democracy in Belarus."

The talks separately discussed the situation with political prisoners, which, according to the head of the Storting's delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Marius Arion Nielsen, "remains acute." Nielsen noted that Belarus still has many political prisoners. "And it is important for us to get an insight into their situation," he emphasized.
The invitation to Bialiatski was sent by the Storting delegation to the OSCE. The meeting was also attended by members of the Storting delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
