A "surprise" Was Found In The Drinking Water In Rogachev

More than 15,000 rubles were recovered from officials at “Gomelvodokanal” after the water quality in Rogachev deteriorated in April. The court found that enamel and solvent had entered the water supply while the iron removal station was being painted.

In April, residents of Rogachev complained about tap water with a strong chemical odor. Authorities confirmed the problem but were unable to identify the cause at the time.

An investigation revealed that while painting the station, officials allowed the use of enamel and a solvent not intended for such work. The substances entered the water supply system and reacted, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Due to the incident, the water supply had to be shut off and the pipes flushed. According to the agency, the cost of mitigating the consequences amounted to more than 34,000 rubles.

Five managers at various levels from divisions of “Gomelvodokanal” were found at fault: they failed to oversee procurement and improperly organized the painting process. They were ordered to pay more than 15,600 rubles.
