October 19–23.
From October 19 to 23, Belarus will host a special comprehensive operation called “Arsenal.” Law enforcement agencies will identify and crack down on violations related to the trafficking of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
Such operations will take place in various regions of the country. Their goal is to prevent and suppress offenses related to the trafficking of weapons.
The Central Internal Affairs Directorate of Minsk reminded the public that the illegal trafficking of weapons, ammunition, explosive devices, and explosives is a criminal offense. The maximum penalty is up to 12 years of imprisonment.
However, a person who voluntarily surrenders illegally possessed weapons, ammunition, or explosives is exempt from criminal and administrative liability.
To report illegally possessed weapons or learn how to voluntarily surrender them, call 102.
“Arsenal” operations have been conducted in Belarus before. For example, in October 2023, the police inspected the storage conditions of registered weapons and identified owners of illegal arsenals. At that time, law enforcement officials also urged citizens to voluntarily surrender unregistered weapons.
