Ukraine Breached Russia's Air Defense System And Set Fire To An Oil Refinery In The Komi Republic

The drones flew 1,700 km from the border to Ukhta.

On October 9, Ukrainian defense forces attacked the “LUKOIL-Ukhtaneftepererabotka” oil refinery in the city of Ukhta, Komi Republic, according to Dialog.UA.

Footage published by the Exilenova+ monitoring project shows a thick plume of black smoke rising above the facility. The plant is located approximately 1,700 km from the Ukrainian border.
The Ukhta Oil Refinery is one of the oldest oil refineries in the Russian Federation. It was built in 1934 and is now part of the LUKOIL company.

The facility has a capacity of approximately 4.2 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The plant processes heavy, high-sulfur crude oil produced in the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province, including from the Yaregskoye field.

The facility produces motor gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, fuel oil, vacuum gas oil, and road and construction bitumen.

The refinery’s products are supplied to the Northwestern and Central Federal Districts of the Russian Federation and are also exported through Baltic ports. The refinery also operates in the interests of the Russian military.
