The Kremlin press office put forward a strange version of events.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin celebrated his 74th birthday at home with his family and former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. This was reported by the Kremlin press service, according to Dialog.UA.
The Kremlin press service claims that Schröder’s visit to Moscow on October 7—Schröder being a close friend of Putin’s—is not connected to the Russian dictator’s birthday.
The Russian leader allegedly learned of the former German chancellor’s arrival in Moscow from media reports. It is claimed that Schröder flew in on business for the company “Globus.”
Upon learning of this, Putin invited “his old friend” to his home. The former German chancellor was with the Kremlin leader when he celebrated his birthday on October 7.
Schröder served as Federal Chancellor of Germany from October 1998 to November 2005. He has always maintained good relations with Putin. Schröder has traveled to Moscow on numerous occasions, even after the Russian army’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
