Psychologists Have Identified The Three Main Components Of Happiness

It's best to start with what matters most—your relationships with your loved ones.

Strong relationships, a sense of purpose, and a fulfilling career—these are the three main components of happiness. These are the very things that people who want to feel better should focus on, writes Psychology Today (translation by Charter97.org).

Relationships with other people play the most important role. A Harvard study, which has been examining people’s health and well-being for decades, has shown that close relationships have a more consistent impact on happiness than many other factors, including income and physical activity.

“A life filled with good relationships stands out for its powerful and enduring impact on health and happiness,” the psychologists write.

The second important factor is understanding what a person lives for. This could be personal goals, beliefs, caring for loved ones, or a desire to contribute to society. According to research, people who find meaning in their lives often live longer and feel better.
The third component is work in which a person sees the results of their own efforts and the benefit to those around them. This applies not only to one’s profession but also to one’s studies. It’s important to understand that success is achieved honestly and that one’s work helps others.
Money also matters, especially when it comes to basic needs. However, once a sufficient level of well-being is achieved, additional income doesn’t necessarily make a person happier. Experiences, helping others, and free time can bring more joy.
It’s impossible to be happy all the time. But caring for loved ones, searching for meaning, and doing meaningful work help make life more fulfilling.
