Iranian dry cargo ship "Caspian Shiva" is in distress near Makhachkala. This is reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Dagestan.

"It was reported about landing of dry cargo ship "Caspian Shiva" without cargo on the shoal in the area of the channel of dry cargo harbor behind the green berm in seven km from the Makhachkala commercial port," - stated in the message. The vessel has on board ballast weighing about 2800 tons. Currently, the vessel is flooded with water. The height of waves in the area of the disaster reaches one and a half to two meters.

It is reported that the vessel received a "breach of unknown origin" in the Caspian Sea waters, not reaching 8 km to the Makhachkala commercial port.
