It's too early to draw conclusions.

European Union officials were skeptical of US President Donald Trump's statement about lifting his threat to impose duties on goods from countries that supported Denmark before the White House threats.

This was reported by Politico.

German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil believes it is too early to conclude that the emerging conflict between the U.S. and the EU is over.

"After the last few days full of controversy, we should wait and see what substantial agreements will be reached between (NATO Secretary General - ed.) Mark Rutte and Trump," he said.

An EU official involved in the Greenland talks told Politico he would be skeptical of calling it fantastic news.

"We cannot live our lives or run our countries based on social media posts," Politico stressed.

Another source of the publication in NATO linked the softening of the U.S. president's stance to the efforts of Secretary General Mark Rutte, who "has developed a close personal relationship with the U.S. president and is doing his job."
