Ukraine To Close The Sky With Artificial Intelligence Air Defense System

Ukraine will deploy an air defense system with autonomous missiles controlled by artificial intelligence in just a few months.

This is reported by The Washington Post.

The publication quoted Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov as saying that Ukrainian skies will be protected by a new generation of AI-controlled air target interceptors.

"We have a clear plan on how to stop Russia in our skies," he noted.

It is noted that an agreement has been signed with US defense software company Palantir to create AI-Dataroom. It will use data and images collected by Ukraine during four years of war to train the AI - it will predict enemy attacks and direct autonomous interceptors to repel them.

WP notes that if the initiative is implemented as planned, Ukraine will have the basis for a nationwide system of autonomous air defense missiles in as little as six months.

"No other country in the world has experience defending against airstrikes on the scale Ukraine faces today. By training to counter these attacks, Ukraine is creating the next generation of air defense with the support of artificial intelligence," the Defense Ministry head stressed.

The publication writes that Ukrainian air defense means should be cheaper than drones and missiles of the aggressor country. In addition, they should react faster than humans throughout Ukraine.

The AI system will be taught to recognize Russian aerial targets and accurately target them. The software will be integrated with domestic interceptors.
