The future of Belarus is in the EU and NATO.
Editor-in-chief of the site Charter97.org Natallia Radzina believes that Europe's dialog with Lukashenko is impossible. Europeans have understood perfectly well what the Belarusian regime is like in recent years.
The journalist told about it at the presentation of the book by the famous American writer Yuri Felshtinsky "Natallia Radzina's Belarus. Journalist vs. Dictator", which took place in Warsaw on January 16, answering the question about how Brussels looks at the Belarusian regime:
- Europe understands the danger that Lukashenko's regime poses. In the conditions of war, it is Europe, unlike the United States and Donald Trump, that has realized what a Belarusian dictatorship is. And I am happy that the Europeans are not lifting the sanctions. They have come to realize that there can be no independent game with Lukashenko, as it was before 2020 - 2022, when some hopes to tear the dictator away from Russia and build relations with him.
Europe and especially Poland, which has almost always taken a principled position towards Lukashenko's regime, understand this. Lithuania has realized how dangerous it is, and despite the pressure from the United States, does not lift sanctions against Belaruskali. Therefore, there can be no dialogs with Lukashenko during the war. I also consider the current warming of relations with the U.S. to be temporary. Putin will continue the war against Ukraine and Europe with the active participation of the Belarusian dictatorship. And the already lifted sanctions will have to be returned and new ones imposed.
After that, the editor-in-chief of Charter97.org answered the question about the vision of the future of Belarus as an independent state. Natallia Radzina believes that our country should become a part of the Euro-Atlantic civilization:
- Belarus should be a member of the European Union and NATO. This is the only way I see for my country. There will be no "neutral country", no "bridge" between Russia and Europe for Belarus. All those who are still talking about some kind of "Finlandization", what are you talking about? I always say to Belarusians: if you dream of a bridge, you will live under this bridge.
It's very simple: we must go to the EU and NATO, only in this way we will be able to defend ourselves from the Russian Empire, which, if it doesn't disintegrate, will always remain a great threat to us.
