Pistorius: Germany Has Become The World's Number One Supporter Of Ukraine

Germany's defense minister has promised new elements for Patriot.

Berlin is constantly increasing its support for Ukraine. It is Germany, not the United States, that now ranks first among partner countries in this regard.

This is what German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced at a Bundestag government affairs session after the parliament's summer recess on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. In particular, he promised to transfer new elements for Patriot systems to Kiev in the coming weeks to strengthen Ukrainian air defense.

He said Germany is also continuing to train the Ukrainian military. More than 21,000 Ukrainian soldiers have already undergone them.

"Next year's support will amount to nine billion euros, this year a little less. Joint ventures between German and European industry and Ukraine are important. Because Ukrainian industry cannot be fully utilized with its capacities there," Pistorius said.

The minister emphasized that operational readiness and reliability in front of partners are the standards "by which we should be judged."

"The challenges to security policy are serious and we take them seriously," Pistorius concluded.
