There Were Explosions And Loss Of Light In The Russian City Of Voronezh

The missiles hit the local thermal power plant.

Explosions were heard in the Russian city of Voronezh on the night of November 9. Local residents complained about the blasts hitting the local thermal power plant.

After several arrivals, a fire broke out in the area of this energy facility. Footage from Voronezh with comments from a local resident was published by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.

What is known

The explosions in Russia's Voronezh were heard during the "missile danger": it was declared in the region twice last night - from 03:39 to 04:20 and from 04:50 (Kiev time), while the "drone danger" lasted from the end of the previous day.

In local chat rooms, Russians complained about a probable strike on the local thermal power plant.

"Voronezh, locals report an attack on CHPP-1, before that a missile danger was declared there," the complaints of Voronezh residents were summarized in Exilenova+.

The flights, judging by posts in some Voronezh publicks, came at the first "rocket danger." One of them, citing readers, wrote that "at least three explosions" (the author of one of the videos also reported three), which commentators who had heard four, five or even "much more" explosions disagreed with.

Russians reported a fire in the vicinity of the thermal power plant, discussed what exactly was flying, drones or missiles, complained that the city had not turned on the sirens again, as well as light outages.

Where it flew

The Russian independent publication ASTRA conducted an OSINT analysis of the footage from Voronezh - and concluded that it did indeed fly over CHPP-1.

The footage that appeared online was taken from the Aviastroiteley embankment in Voronezh, according to the publication. From the shooting point to the CHPP is 1.3 km.

"According to ASTRA's analysis, Voronezh CHPP-1 fell under attack in the video. The plant is located in the city of Voronezh, at 2 Lebedeva St. The combined heat and power plant, according to public data, is part of RIR Energo JSC. Installed electric capacity - 378.3 MW, heat capacity - 1389.3 Gcal/hour. The number of employees is 430 people," the report said.

The publication also added that after a series of explosions in a number of houses in Voronezh, electricity disappeared and then reappeared. Reports of the attack and fire at the CHPP appeared in several local chat rooms.

It is known that Voronezh CHPP-1 is the largest supplier of heat energy to residential buildings and large enterprises in the city. The plant provides heat energy to four districts of the city - Levoberezhny, Zheleznodorozhny, Leninsky and Tsentralny, as well as more than a thousand enterprises, including the largest Voronezh plant - Voronezhsintezkauchuk.
