Belarus Received Confirmation From Lithuania That The Border Will Be Open From November 20

It's official now.

An official notification of the Lithuanian side on the opening of two checkpoints on the border from November 20 has been received, reported the State Border Committee. Belarusian border guards are already ready for the event.

"On Thursday, November 20, from 1.00 am Minsk time, the Lithuanian authorities plan to open the checkpoints "Kamenny Log - Miadininkai" and "Beniakoni - Shalchininkai." The official notification from the State Border Guard Service of the Lithuanian Interior Ministry was received by the State Border Committee in the evening on November 19," reported in the SBC.

Belarusian border guards are ready to resume work on the Belarusian-Lithuanian section of the border.

A few hours earlier at an interdepartmental meeting at the State Secretariat of the Belarusian Security Council discussed "the current situation on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border in connection with the expected opening of checkpoints by Lithuania." It was stated that Vilnius had not officially notified Minsk about the opening of the border.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Lithuania at a meeting on November 19 decided to open two checkpoints on the border with Belarus earlier than planned.
