The Exact Time Of Opening Of The Lithuanian-Belarusian Border Has Been Announced

The checkpoints will open tomorrow.

The work of border checkpoints Šalčininkai (from the Belarusian side Beniakoni) and Miadininkai (Kamenny Loh) will resume from 00:00 Lithuanian time (01:00 Belarusian time) on November 20, according to the information on the website of the Lithuanian government.

It is reported that the movement through the mentioned border checkpoints will be possible "only by car". Thus, there is probably no talk about resumption of bus traffic at this stage.

It is also noted that "temporary restriction on movement of persons through Šalčininkai and Miadininkai may be imposed if there are sufficient grounds to believe that such movement is artificially organized, encouraged or permitted with the participation of neighboring states and poses a threat to the national security interests of the Republic of Lithuania".

The fact that the Lithuanian government made decision to open the border with Belarus became known on the afternoon of November 19.
