Poland Closes Last Russian Consulate

Warsaw has repeatedly warned Moscow.

Poland has decided to close the Russian consulate in Gdansk, the last functioning consulate in the country, after two sabotage attacks on the railroad between Lublin and Warsaw.

As Onet reports, the Polish Foreign Minister Onet, this was announced by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.

The Polish Foreign Minister said that Warsaw has decided on the first measures after the findings of the investigation into the railroad sabotage.

"I have decided to withdraw consent to the operation of the last Russian consulate - in Gdansk. This will be communicated to the Russian side by an official note in the coming hours," Sikorski said.

"We do not plan to terminate diplomatic relations with Russia, as other countries do after acts of terrorism or sabotage," he added.

Sikorski emphasized that Warsaw has repeatedly warned Moscow that in case of hostile actions against Poland, the response will be to further reduce its diplomatic and consular presence in the country. He emphasized that Russia not only did not stop such attempts, but intensified them.
