$105 million.
The State Department has decided to approve the possible foreign sale to the government of Ukraine of the Patriot air defense system and related equipment worth about 105 million US dollars. This information was published on Tuesday, November 18, on the site of the U.S. State Department.
The State Department's report also says that the Defense Security Cooperation Agency has provided the necessary certification and notified the U.S. Congress.
The department's report also contains clarifications regarding the list of goods and services requested by Ukraine. In particular, the following list was published:
Modernization of M901 launchers to M903 configuration;
Secret and unclassified lists of proposed cargo and lists of authorized stocks for ground support equipment;
Other required services, as well as support equipment, spare parts, support, training and accessories;
Logistics and program support elements.
The U.S. State Department said the proposed sale would improve Ukraine's ability to meet current and future threats by "arming Ukraine with more powerful assets for self-defense operations and regional security."
The department noted that in order to implement the arms sale, the United States must send U.S. government and contractor representatives to the European Combatant Command to support and conduct training.
"Implementing this proposed sale would require sending approximately five additional U.S. government and 15 U.S. contractor representatives to the European Combatant Command for up to one month to support training and periodic meetings," the statement reads
