Ukraine has imported the first batch of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States through a terminal in the Lithuanian city of Klaipeda. This is reported by Reuters.
On the Ukrainian side, the private energy company DTEK is responsible for the supplies. The gas supplied to Ukraine was produced at a plant in Plaquemines, Louisiana. The amount supplied was equivalent to 100 million cubic meters of natural gas, this produces one trillion watt-hours of energy.
According to Reuters, about 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas must be imported to meet Ukraine's winter heating needs. Ukraine now plans to increase the supply of liquefied natural gas, including through Lithuania and Greece.
