Timur Mindich is tied up in corruption.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has signed a decree imposing sanctions against businessman Timur Mindich, his partner in the Kvartal 95 project, and financier Alexander Tsukerman.
Investigators from Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office have named them as organizers of a large-scale corruption scheme at the state-owned Energoatom company, the "Real Time" channel reports. It is alleged that the contractors were demanded kickbacks under the guise of their proximity to the highest echelons of power.
Mindich and Tsukerman have been stripped of their state awards. Their assets in Ukraine have been blocked for three years and they are not allowed to carry out trade operations. They have been banned from acquiring land plots and other measures. The decree says the businessmen have Israeli citizenship.
Mindich left Ukraine hours before they came to search him. He did so despite a ban on the men traveling abroad. Zuckerman is also not in Ukraine. He was reached on November 12 by journalists of the "Schemes" program of Radio Liberty's Ukrainian service. When asked about suspicions of corruption, he replied, "Everything is not true, everything is a lie."
