One Of The Power Units Of BelNPP Was Shut Down

November 13, the second power unit of the Belarusian NPP was taken out for planned preventive maintenance.

The press service of the Ministry of Energy of the country informed about it. As it is specified, such repairs are carried out annually at nuclear power plants in accordance with the established regulations to ensure stable operating condition of the equipment.

In particular, in the course of the planned activities, scheduled maintenance, diagnostics and repair of equipment and technological systems will be carried out at power unit No. 2. For example, the condition of base metal and welded joints of equipment and pipelines will be checked.

It is also planned to replace spent nuclear fuel with fresh one. For this purpose, about 25% of fuel assemblies with fresh nuclear fuel will be loaded into the reactor core.

The work, as the agency reported, will be carried out by the staff of the Belarusian NPP, as well as engaged workers of the Belarusian and Russian organizations.

We recall that the second power unit of the Belarusian NPP was put into commercial operation on November 1, 2023.
