It was valued at $230 million.

The confiscated superyacht of Russian oligarch Suleyman Kerimov has finally been sold.

Although the luxury Amadea has changed owners, the legal battles continue, writes Business Insider.

The 106-meter Amadea was confirmed to the publication to have been auctioned by the U.S. government after it was seized in Fiji in 2022 as part of Operation KleptoCapture. At the time of the seizure, the vessel was valued at $300 million, although the value was later reduced to around $230 million.

The luxury yacht, built by German company Lürssen - the same company that built ships for Sergei Brin and Barry Diller - has six decks with an infinity pool, Jacuzzi, two spa areas, private movie theater, helipad and even a lobster tank. Inside - gilded bar, elite piano, elevators with gold trim.

Despite all this luxury, the yacht became a burden for the U.S. government - its maintenance cost almost 1 million dollars a month. That's why the authorities rushed to find a buyer to take the cost off the shoulders of taxpayers.

The ownership of Amadea remains disputed. After the ship was arrested, Russian businessman Eduard Khudainatov claimed he was the real owner. A court in the United States found him to be only a "fictitious owner" who was acting on behalf of another person, and authorized the seizure of the yacht. Khudainatov appealed the decision, calling the sale "premature and illegal."
