There appeared confirmations about the town's passing under the control of the AFU.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU), which are conducting an offensive in Kursk region, have taken control of part of Sudzha and are fighting small arms battles in the town, Russian military telegram channels report.
According to the Rybar channel close to the Russian Defence Ministry, Ukrainian formations have "occupied the western half" of Sudzha and control the roads around the town.
"At the moment, the line of combat contact runs along the area of the dam - it represents a lowland through which the rather small Sudzha River flows," the Telegram channel writes. Rybar called the railway tracks the next line of defence of the Russian army.
The information that the Ukrainian military control most of the city has been confirmed by military blogger Yuri Kotenok. However, according to his data, they concentrated in the area of the railway station, which is located in the eastern part of the town.
"As expected, Sudzha is basically lost to us. And this is the most important logistical hub. And the enemy is trying to use this advantage," pro-war blogger Mikhail Podolyaka wrote in the morning bulletin. He also specified that Ukrainian forces are trying to move further north from Sudzha - towards the town of Lgov.
Analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) have included the western part of Sudzha in the zone that could be occupied by the Ukrainian armed forces during the offensive.
At the same time, according to military telegram channels, the Russian army was able to repel the Ukrainian forces' attack in the second district centre, the working settlement of Korenevo. According to the Two Majors channel, the AFU were stopped on the approach to the settlement. "The enemy temporarily retreated near Korenevo. However, this is not a consequence of defeat, but because they failed to break through. And therefore they may try again," Podolyaka noted.
The Russian authorities do not officially comment on the advance of the AFU in Kursk region. The Ukrainian military entered Russian territory in the early morning of August 6 and occupied 11 settlements in the border strip, as well as managed to advance 10 kilometres inland.
