Forbes: F-16 Arrived In Ukraine With 'Surprises'

They have "deception" systems for Russian air defence.

On the American F-16 fighters that arrived in Ukraine, special means of protection against the air defence system of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation were installed. Forbes. reported this on August 4.

As journalists noted, after studying photo and video materials, the F-16 aircraft received AIM-9 missiles with infrared guidance and AIM-120, controlled by radar radiation (and this emphasizes the possible role of fighters in the air defence system in the armament of Ukraine).

In addition, journalists say that the anchors in the middle part of the wing of the Ukrainian F-16 are built-in means of protection in the air, particularly integrated electronic warfare systems PIDS and ECIPS.

According to experts, PIDS throws out metal reflectors and fragmentation missiles to deceive anti-aircraft missiles with radar and infrared guidance.

ECIPS, in turn, contains passive protection to complement active reflectors and fragmentation missiles, including the AN/ALQ-162 silencing system for suppressing radar on the ground, as well as the AN/AAR-60 missile attack warning system for triggering passive protection.
