Trucks Are Halted On Belarusian-EU Border

Loopholes for circumventing sanctions are being closed.

Other goods are halted on the border of the EU and Belarus in addition to cars. The companies say that most of the difficulties with cargo are at the Lithuanian border, Office Life writes.

Representatives of importing companies told the resource that the situation with other goods is the same as with the import of cars, when at the border with the EU they refer to European legislation, which was amended by Council Regulation No. 2024/745 of February 23 as part of the 13th package of sanctions.

As a result, since March 23, problems have arisen with cargoes that crossed the European border and were sent to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. We are talking about the application of secondary sanctions against Russia.

Earlier, the European Union banned the supply of many cars to Russia within the framework of sanctions. However, they continued with the circumvention of sanctions through Belarus and other countries, including using a false transit scheme. In March, Lithuania, Poland and Latvia stopped producing cars with transit numbers with an engine value of more than 1.9 litres.
