Ukrainian Officer: Even Delusional Russians Will Start Asking Questions

Drone strikes on airfields showed that the Russian authorities do not control the territory of the country.

The Ukrainian edition of New Voice, citing its sources in intelligence, reported that five Russian aircraft were neutralized in three days. Among them is a nuclear bomber. Why did Ukraine choose Russian aviation?

Journalists of Charter97.org asked military analyst Oleksiy Hetman, a reserve AFU major and veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, about it:

– We are talking about the Tu-22m3. I must say right away that any strategic bomber aircraft can carry weapons, including nuclear ones. All missiles that attack Ukraine (aeroballistic, ballistic and cruise missiles) can carry nukes.

The Iskander, Caliber or Kinzhal can also carry nuclear charges. When the Kh-101 missile launches, we are not aware of its charge: ordinary TNT or a nuke.

Therefore, it is necessary to destroy the bombers, especially the Tu-22m3, because they are the ones carrying the Kh-22 missiles. They are quite old but relatively long-range, their height limit is quite sufficient, and then they can deliver strikes from there. Only the Patriot systems can counter them. It's not about air defence but missile defence.

We have few such systems and we cannot cover the whole of Ukraine. This is a real threat. Until we have additional Patriot systems, it is necessary to destroy not only the missiles themselves but also the carriers, and even better, the factories where they are produced, as well as the air bases where they are located. The cause must be eliminated During a war and not the consequences.

– Do you think there will be more such operations?

– Sure. We promised our partners that we would not use their weapons on the territory of the Russian Federation. Although this is complete nonsense. But they are afraid of escalation, that "a direct armed clash between NATO and the Russian Federation will begin." It's their right and we are grateful to them for their help.

Nevertheless, our partners have made it clear that they cannot forbid us to decide on the use of our own weapons unless there is a violation of international law.

Military facilities on the enemy territory are legitimate targets and we have every right to attack these targets.

Sorry, but we are going to use our own weapons according to our needs. The only thing we won't do is attack civilian targets. This is a war crime.

We have every right and even obligation to attack the military facilities of the country that attacked us.

– Why are Russian air bases so vulnerable to drones? After all, air defence systems should be installed there.

– The Russians are too self-confident. They thought we were incapable of making drones that cover more than 1,000 km. They weren't ready for this. The Russians are so fond of talking about how "invincible" they are, "what kind of weapons they have". They are lying so much that they themselves began to believe their own lies. The Russians talked about "insurmountable air defence", but it turns out that it is easy to penetrate through it.

Just look at how often drones fly over Moscow and the Moscow region. There are explosions at their air bases. Therefore, let them tell, on the contrary, it works for our benefit. As long as the Russians remain confident that we cannot overcome their air defences and do nothing to improve it, we will continue to use the “window of opportunity”.

– The drones that attacked the air bases after taking off from the territory of the Russian Federation. Does Ukraine have such a serious spy network in the Russian Federation that can conduct such operations?

– If this information came from Russian sources, then in this way they would like to cover up their air defence. After all, we understand that if these drones fly from the territory of Ukraine, then they must penetrate three defence lines of the Russian Federation. The first - on the front line, the second - in the middle of the Russian Federation (on the way from the front line) and the third - around an air base or Moscow.

They are telling it to prevent everyone from thinking that Ukrainian drones can overcome several defence lines of the Russian Federation. I think it's a lie.

The Russians decided to say that these drones were launched somewhere near Moscow or at an air base, so their "strong" air defence could not cope with them. It allegedly shows that we have a network of sabotage and underground resistance groups in Russia, which they do not control, and we do not only post leaflets but also launch powerful weapons.

– British Intelligence also reported that “Ukraine carries out some attacks on the Russian Federation from the enemy’s lair, that is, directly from Russian territories.”

– Well, that's great if that's the case. You know, we do not produce these drones in the Russian Federation. After all, this is a real fully integrated production. It turns out that we produced the drones, “disassembled the constructor” into several parts and transported the parts across all the borders and the front line directly. I don't even know what and how. Maybe through Belarus, no one knows.

In general, this means that we brought weapons to the middle of the Russian Federation, which we calmly assembled on its territory, and took them somewhere, for example, to a field, and not just one drone, but several. Then they launched them. Did nobody see this? So it's even worse for the Russians!

It turns out that they do not control their territory and their borders at all. You know, even delusional Russians will start asking questions in this case.
