'We Are Shrinking': lukashists Admit Crisis In Economy

The Ministry of Labour started talking about "negative dynamics".

The number of people employed in the economy of Belarus has decreased, recognized Minister of Labor and Social Protection Iryna Kastsevich.

"Obviously, there is, in my opinion, such a negative trend in the number of those employed in the economy. We are shrinking," she said on air of the state television channel. According to the minister, there are two factors influencing the decrease in the number of employed: demographic and economic (sanctions).

The sanctions have forced "businesses to start actively optimizing their processes" and count the "earned kopecks," said the minister.

Belstat has been recording the decline in employment in the economy for several years. Over the last three years, this number has decreased by more than 150 thousand people.

Last year the population of Belarus went down by nearly 55 thousand people. And for the last three years - by 200 thousand people. By 2023, Minsk was no longer a city of two million people. As of January 1, 1 995 471 people lived in the capital. During the year the population of the capital decreased by more than a thousand people.
