Russia Replaces Important Commander Following Failure

The new commander has disgraced himself as early as the Admiral Kuznetsov cruiser's campaign to Syria.

On Thursday, August 11, it became known that the Russian occupier's Black Sea Fleet is facing a change of command.

This was reported by "Sevastopol Media" citing its sources, Dumskaya reports. The reason seems to be the failures of the Russian troops, in particular the fleet, in the war with Ukraine.

It is reported that instead of Admiral Igor Osipov, who has been in command of the Black Sea Fleet since May 2019, it will be headed by 59-year-old Vice-Admiral Viktor Sokolov.

Sokolov has served from commander of a torpedo department on several ships, chief of staff and commander of a minesweeper battalion to deputy commander of the Northern Fleet (since 2013) and head of the Admiral Kuznetsov Naval Academy (since 2020). Note that it was Sokolov who commanded the Mediterranean campaign of Northern Fleet ships led by the heavy aircraft-carrying Admiral Kuznetsov cruiser.
