NATO Countries Ink Admission Protocols With Regard To Finland, Sweden

Both countries can now participate in all meetings of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Ambassadors of 30 NATO countries on July 5 signed protocols on accession to the alliance of Finland and Sweden. As a result, both of these countries can now participate in all meetings of the North Atlantic Alliance, but do not yet have the right to vote, writes Deutsche Welle..

“Both countries have officially confirmed their desire and ability to fulfill the political, legal and military obligations stipulated by NATO membership,” the protocol on joining the alliance says.

The decision to admit Finland and Sweden to NATO must be approved by the governments of all 30 countries of the alliance.

Sweden and Finland have applied for the introduction into NATO on May 18.
