Lukashenka Goes Mad Over Hyperinflation

The dictator banned raising prices for "everything" from October 6.

All price hikes have been banned in Belarus since October 6, reported pro-government propagandists following a meeting of the economic bloc of the government and Aliaksandr Lukashenka. "With the exception of individual decisions of a minister or chairman of the regional executive committee," reports the telegram channel, which is associated with Lukashenka's press service.

"For the violation - the responsibility belongs to the Prosecutor General's Office and the SCC - detentions and criminal cases. Responsibility throughout the vertical," the propagandists specify.

It is reported that a special "working group," which includes the SCC, trade unions, "deputies" and "senators," and Belstat, was created following Lukashenka's decision. "The head of the group is Kachanava. The group has to submit proposals to the government on measures to regulate prices in the country by 20 October. Those measures will ensure control and prevention of growth," propaganda resources specify.

As we have reminded, within January-August the inflation rate in Belarus increased up to 13.8%. The government expects it to be 19% per annum by the end of the year. Earlier the forecast was 6% per annum.
