After the start of the war, the share of defects in the supply of microchips from China to Russia increased from 2% to 40%. Kommersant writes about this, citing a source in the Russian electronics market.

According to him, this happens because, due to sanctions, Russian buyers began to establish channels for the import of electronics and components on their own. Goods are not purchased directly from factories, but from intermediaries, which is why the level of quality control is falling.

Problems with chips and microcircuits in Russia began after Vladimir Putin sent troops to Ukraine. Foreign manufacturers refuse to cooperate with Russian customers due to sanctions, leaving them to come up with unusual methods to solve the problem. So, for example, against the backdrop of a shortage of chips for bank cards in Russia, Sber began to “reimplant” chips from non-activated cards into new ones.
