A Truck With a Belarusian Driver Slid Off the Bridge Into the River in Poland

The lorry driver was sober.

The truck driven by a Belarusian fell off a bridge into a river in Poland last week. It is believed that the long-distance trucker wanted to bypass the line of trucks that goes to the Belarussian border crossing point. TVN24 TV channel reported about the incident.

The accident occurred in the village of Novoselki (Lublin Voivodeship) on the evening of January 21. The truck went along the narrow bridge and veered to the right: first, it damaged the rails of the bridge, and then it slid down into the river.

According to the findings of the police, the driver wanted to bypass the “koleyku” (platoon) of trucks standing at the checkpoint on the Polish-Belarusian border, so as not to stand in it. At the same time, the driver violated the traffic rules: the movement of trucks is prohibited in this place as there is a small estate road.

The lorry driver was a citizen of Belarus and he was sober. He was not injured in the accident. He received a fine.
