Luninets District Became Epicenter Of Coronavirus Infection

There are no vacant beds in Luninets' hospitals, and the authorities can no longer hide it.

Brest region authorities said that Luninets district accounts for the majority of coronavirus patients in the region. The number of patients, reported by chairman of Brest regional executive committee Anatol Lis, far exceeds the official data of the Ministry of Health, Belsat reports. But even this number, according to public activists and independent bloggers, is considerably lower than the real data on coronavirus patients.

The first known case of coronavirus infection in Luninets district, which the authorities could not hide, was the director of the local Euraopt store.

She was the first patient in the district with officially confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus. However, she was tested in Minsk, where she had to go with a temperature of 39.8 after an unsuccessful attempt to hospitalize in Luninets (due to lack of places in the hospital). The day before, when her temperature was lower, she got back from sick leave and went to work.

Her husband, who was in a much worse condition, was also swabbed for coronavirus, the swab was sent to Brest for examination, from where it returned with the negative result.
