Luninets farmers are raising the alarm.

In the strawberry capital of Belarus, the agro-town Dvarets, residents sound the alarm: there are a lot of strawberries this year, while there is no one to sell it to. A few days ago, a kilo of large, selected berries were accepted for only 35 kopecks, tut.by writes.

– And that was for beautiful, big ones! And they gave 25 kopecks for the ones to be processed. At the same time, try to deliver this berry even at such a price. People plow, pick and choose – and there is nowhere to sell them at a normal price. To earn 15 rubles, you have to deliver 60 kg of strawberries. People are angry – where are our plants? They don't know where to keep this strawberries. Now they will throw them under the fence. It has already happened, – local resident Nina said.

The reason for the drop in prices is explained by a significant excess of supply over demand:

– People have planted it massively. This year, only the lazy one has not planted it. And there is nowhere to sell the harvest. About 10 years ago, people used to take berries to Russia themselves, but now it is not so profitable, and few people will want to deal with documents. That's why those who used to go don't go anymore. Dealers take it away from the market by large trucks.

This year has been hard for the farmers who grow berries in large quantities and have to hire people to harvest.

– One farmer has recruited people. They picked berries. He paid them. He took the strawberries to sell them out and went into the red. Then he said: "Okay, that's it. Let them rot," – Nina said.

According to the locals, today the price of strawberries in the Dvarets market has increased. A kilo of good berries costs from 80 kopecks to a ruble.

We remind that this year the first berries were sold in Dvarets for 10 rubles per liter jar.
