Svetlana Alexievich: Don't Let Betrayal Of Your Own Self Happen

The Belarusian writer, Nobel Prize winner in literature, made a speech in Warsaw.

Svetlana Alexievich spoke today at the Ryszard Kapuscinski Award ceremony held in Warsaw.

"Hundreds of journalists and writers have committed a betrayal by carrying out terrible ideas coming from the top down. They then found excuses that they had children, had no way out, their careers could have been ruined. But they committed a betrayal. I wish all those who are engaged in creative work to find the courage not to betray their own selves and not to commit this betrayal," – Svetlana Alexievich said.
