Scandalous Eupenta Vaccine Returned To Belarusian Clinics

The drug, around which a scandal erupted in August, is being used again for vaccinating Belarusian children for free.

The South Korean pentavalent Eupenta vaccine, around which a scandal erupted in August, when a child died, has returned to Belarusian clinics. According to Euroradio, a notice of this was seen in the Vitsebsk children's polyclinic №2.

But it turned out that this is not the will of the Vitsebsk doctors. The vaccine, the use of which was partially cancelled, is being used for vaccinating children in the Minsk polyclinics, where the journalists phoned to.

For example, in the Minsk polyclinic No. 10, Eupenta is used for free of charge vaccinating. However, there is a choice: if the parents consider the drug dangerous, they can vaccinate a child with the Belgian vaccine Infanrixhex or Infanrix for 75 rubles.

Information about vaccinating with Eupenta was confirmed in the Barauliany polyclinic, which is located in Minsk region.

On August 13, a two-month-old boy died in the Hantsavichy hospital after planned vaccinations. He was given two drugs: Eupenta and Imovax Polio. After the injection, the boy felt bad, the doctors did not manage to save him.

As it became known later, the boy died of anaphylactic shock. The Ministry of Health stated then that, until all the necessary checks were done, it stopped the use of two series of Eupenta.

At a briefing on August 29, shortly after the incident with the death of a child in Hantsavichy district, Siarhei Marchanka, deputy director of the Center for Expertise and Health Tests, said: “The Eupenta vaccine is undergoing registration, but it can be used.”

Eupenta has not yet appeared in the register of medicines of Belarus. The Ministry of Health did not report the resumption of vaccination with the South Korean drug.
