A Belarusian Student Has Created A Spider Robot With Night Vision Capabilities

Egor Klepatsky , a student at BSUIR , has created a spider robot that can be used for search and rescue operations. The robot has night vision capabilities and is capable of operating in challenging conditions, according to BelTA.
This is not the first robot the young inventor has designed and brought to life. Back in high school, Egor conceived and built a humanoid robot named Tyrone. It was intended to serve as a personal voice assistant. The robot was orange and stood 1.75 meters tall.
Now, according to Klepatsky’s plan, Tyrone can perform various functions—for example, working as a teacher, security guard, or museum employee. It is equipped with a video camera, a speaker, and a microphone for communicating with people.
Later, the inventor came up with the idea of creating a smaller robot with broader capabilities. This led to his second startup project—the Onyx spider robot, measuring approximately 27 by 40 centimeters.
Onyx can move independently and navigate its surroundings thanks to various sensors. It also has two cameras with night vision capabilities.
The robot can be used, in particular, to search for people under rubble, as well as at chemical plants. It is capable of detecting and analyzing pollution levels and alerting operators to potential leaks of hazardous substances.
The autonomous spider robot requires only Wi-Fi for communication. The inventor does not rule out the possibility that Onyx could be mass-produced in the future and supplied to companies in Belarus and other CIS countries. According to him, there are already potential interested companies.
