Havana regime panics over Venezuela's example.

The Cuban government has urgently begun arming the local population amid a large-scale deployment of US military forces near the island's shores. Authorities have also officially called on the population to prepare for an "imminent invasion."

The Cuban government expects an escalation after a series of indirect military threats from the United States. This is reported by Diario Versión Final.

Washington's stance increases panic in Cuba

Tensions have risen after a week of political uncertainty in the United States. Speaking on Capitol Hill, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio took an extremely vague position. He avoided specifics on the scope of possible military action or other measures the White House plans to take in the region. The lack of a clear response from Washington has only increased anxiety on the island.

In the Cuban capital, the atmosphere is tense, and preparations for military action have already become part of everyday life. The administration of government agencies is already discussing survival logistics with the local population.

"In the government building where our main offices are located, one of the administrators came up to us and asked us directly if we would need this room during the invasion," CNN reporter Patrick Oppman told CNN.

This case clearly shows that Havana's directives to impose emergency plans are strictly enforced at all levels, from ministries to residential neighborhoods, sowing deep concern among citizens.

Echoes of the Venezuelan failure

The current defensive mobilization of the Cuban leadership comes against the backdrop of recent events in Venezuela. Journalists have been able to confirm a fact with serious military implications: Cuban troops were secretly in Venezuela when an armed invasion to overthrow Nicolas Maduro began there.

Planned as a lightning attack, the operation forced the Cubans to retreat under extremely difficult conditions. More than 30 Cuban soldiers were killed in the clashes on Venezuelan soil.

On the streets of Havana, the mood of the people fluctuated between panic and deep moral fatigue. Because of the prolonged and stifling economic crisis, some locals admit in private conversations: they just want this nightmare to end once and for all.

What power is in Cuba

Today Cuba remains a socialist state, where the only legitimate political force is the Communist Party.

The President of the Republic is also the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, which concentrates both state and party power in his hands. The highest organ of state power is the National Assembly of People's Power. Deputies are elected for 5-year terms.

The Assembly selects from its membership the Council of State, which represents it between sessions, and appoints the president and prime minister. In practice, legislative initiatives are closely aligned with the Communist Party's policies.

The revised 2019 constitution reaffirmed a commitment to socialism, but for the first time recognized the right to private property and opened up opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses.

In recent years, power in Cuba has faced serious challenges: a deep economic crisis, power shortages and protests, forcing the government to tread cautiously
